After visiting Anne Hathaway's Cottage in Stratford Upon Avon in England, I decided to add an old fashioned girl to my painting. Perhaps she is 'young Anne'. Much of the rest in the picture is quite similar to when I was there. A poem, no signature is possibly written by Shakespeare:
But were it to my fancy given
To rate her charms, I'd call them heaven;
For though a mortal made of clay,
Angels must love Anne Hathaway;
She hath a way so to control,
To rapture the imprisoned soul,
And sweetest heaven on earth display,
That to be heaven Anne hath a way;
She hath a way,
Anne Hathaway,–
To be heaven's self Anne hath a way.
About Dee Davis
I began drawing pictures at age three when my dad, an art teacher, put a pencil in my hand, gave me some paper and a few basic lessons in drawing. Since then I've been fascinated with the artistic side of life, studying, viewing and participating. Over the years my work has ranged from small engravings to 4' x 8' paintings. I've worked in colored pencil, acrylic, watercolor and oil doing landscapes, portraits, abstracts and whimsy. I love creating this imaginary world as well as painting abstracts and a variety of more realistic subjects. I donate 20% of my profits of Imaginary Cat sales at FAA to the Humane Society and the ASPCA.
